Good Character Anchor Charts (Kindness, Respect, Responsibility)
Positive Notes to Students
Every teacher knows how important it is to establish positive relationships with your students and their parents. What better way than to send home positive notes?
Take a look at the Teaching Tools page on Super Teacher Worksheets. Under the “Notes to Students” section, you will find various notes home for things such as Great Listener, Smart Choices, Positive Attitude, and more! Print out copies of all of the notes or just the notes that will be best for your classroom. Keep them in an easily accessible place, such as your desk drawer or a small basket by your teaching area.
Try to send one or two notes home each day. Simply pick the note, write the student’s name on it, and sign your name. This is a very simple and easy way to make students feel good about themselves, communicate with parents, and foster a positive classroom environment! You may even wish to keep a class list by the notes and check off each student’s name when they receive a note. This will help ensure that every child gets a note at some point.
Good Character Anchor Charts
These anchor charts are the perfect way to introduce positive character traits to your students. Print out each poster and hang somewhere visible in your classroom. At the beginning of the year, try to focus on one character trait per week.
Talk to students about what each trait means and brainstorm examples of how to show it in your classroom. Throughout the week, as students show the character trait, be sure to intentionally call them out in front of the class. For example, “Andrew just held the door open for the whole class without being asked. That’s a great way to show kindness!”
All About My Child
It’s important for all teachers to get information from their students’ parents or guardians. This All About My Child form is the perfect way to get some of that information. Simply print and send home to each parent. Or, hand them out at Back-to-School Night.
When you get the forms back, keep them in a binder or folder. Every so often throughout the year, refer back to the forms to see if students are meeting the goals that their parents have set for them.
