The science contest was extremely popular last month. There were 52 entries this month, which makes this contest our second monst popular to date. (The spelling contest was the most popular.)
Many thanks to all who entered by submitting their favorite science lessons, demonstrations, and experiments! There were many excellent entries this month and I was really torn between several that I thought could have been winners.
The winner of the January 2009 contest is.... Christy from Wilmington, Deleware. I chose her human body lesson idea, though her weather ideas were great too. Christy wins a $20 gift card to Target or Applebee's (her choice).

It's been a little while since I posted in here - sorry for the delays. There have been some recent updates to the site:
Item 1: Reading Comprehension Worksheets
Valerie has been adding to our reading comprehension worksheets. We're building up a collection of reading passages and question printables that will be organized by grade level.
The set is not complete yet, but it's coming along nicely. Thanks for all your work on this project, Valerie!
Item 2: New Set of Math Printables
I have made a new ebook with printable Math Worksheets. It's called Secret Code Math! Here's how they work: Students use a key to decode picture symbols into a math problem. Then, they can solve the problem. The kids in my classroom love them!
There have been a couple of free S.C.M. worksheets on the addition worksheets page for some time now. I've decided to make many more and compile them into a book. Check out the freebees on the addition page if you haven't tried them before.
Item 3: February Contest
You may have been wondering why it's already April and I haven't written about a winner to the February Social Studies contest yet. I've tried to make two people the winner. But, when I've sent them the notification e-mail to tell them they won, I got no response. (One bounced back and the other person did not reply.)
So, I've sent a winning notification to a third person this evening. If they respond, I will send them the prize and announce the winner.
Thanks for your patience.
There was no March contest and there is no contest this month either. Life's been kind of busy and I'm trying to keep up with everything in school and in my personal life. Hopefully in May, contests will resume.

Kristen has made a bunch of new worksheets as well. They include:
There are many more... these are just a few. We've all been busy. :)
Item 7: Fan Mail
Our fan mail section is growing and growing! Many thanks for those who take the time to write. A couple of our newest from recent weeks include:
Hello Super Tim,
I just started homeschooling my first and third grade children. I didn't know what to do for grammar, but I came across your web-site and have been hooked ever since.
Thanks for a great site!!!
Rachael (appreciative mom)
I was lucky enough to find your wonderful website and top quality activity sheets. Thank you so much! I purchased the Math Riddle book download and I love it! I don't know how this website sustains itself with so much free stuff, but I do appreciate it. I am recommending it to my colleagues.
