Super Teacher Worksheets
January 3, 2009

Only 2 more days until school starts up again.  Enjoy the end of your Christmas Vacation (or Winter Vacation, for those in politically correct districts).

The January Contest is up.  This month, all you need to do is tell me about a great Science lesson, activity, or demonstration that you do with your students.  The prize is a $20 gift card for Applebee's or Target.  The contest will end on or about January 30, 2008.  I hope we get lots of entries this month!  Good luck!!

Happy New Year!  (And only a few days 'till my birthday too!)

The first phonics worksheets are ready: long and short vowels and /sh/ and /ch/.  Hopefully these will be the first of many phonics worksheets to come.

Congratulations to Kathy in Kentucky, winner of the December 2009 contest.  You can read her entry here: Teaching Math With Food.  She actually entered three times and submitted three great ideas.  I combined them into one and made her the winner.  :)  Kathy chose the Applebee's gift card as her prize.  Many thanks to all who enter the contests each month!

Stay tuned for the January contest soon.

December 27, 2008

I hope you had a great holiday.  Traffic to the site has been low over the past few weeks, so I assume everyone is spending time with their families and taking a break from teaching.  :)

A new decimals worksheet page is up, thanks to Kristen!  This is a much-needed addition to our Math resources.

I've also added some additions to the pronoun worksheets and the printable hundreds chart page.  There's now a section for Mad Minute Math Drills.

Thank you to the people have recently contacted me to tell me about minor type-ohs in worksheets and minor mistakes in answer keys.  I always appreciate it when people take the time to point out errors.  I do my best to post error-free worksheets, but sometimes little mistakes slip through.  If you see a mistake, please feel free to let me know.  You can find my e-mail on the contact page.

The December contest is still up and running for another couple of days.  If you follow the contests regularly, you should have an idea of what it takes to win first place.  Basically, I'm looking for a dynamite Math lesson idea.  Winners tend to be people who put a lot of thought and detail into their lesson description.  Bonus points are given to those who send pictures or files along, though it's certainly not necessary to win.  So, if you haven't already, go to the contest page and tell me about your best Math lesson idea.  The best entry this month will win a $20 gift card!  So far, I've gotten some excellent entries.... but none have totally blown me away yet. :)

Christmas worksheets are up.  Happy Holidays!

November 30, 2008

Congratulations to Dawn, winner of the November 2008 contest.  You can view her kindergarten Thanksgiving writing activity in addition to the other writing idea submissions for this month.  I had a difficult time choosing a winner this month.  I really LOVE the football hero entry, as well as the story elements dice game, the creature writing, and the picture telling entry.  Ultimately, I decided to declare Dawn the winner because I think she's done an amazing job to get her Kindergarteners writing about a meaningful topic...and because she sent in lots of cool pictures of student work.  I'm a sucker for pictures. :)  Congratulations, Dawn!

The December contest is already up and running.  All you have to do this month is write about a fun Math lesson that you and your students enjoy.  It's an easy topics and hopefully we'll get lots of entries.  The winner will receive a $20 gift card to Target and Applebee's.  To read the rules and enter the contest, please visit the monthly contest page.  Good luck to all who enter!

What's new on the site?  Cori has designed a few worksheets for us.  She made up some new worksheets for the cause and effect page of the site, including a really cool Barack Obama cause and effect printable.  She also made up some new worksheets for the compound words page.  She's sent in some more that I will be uploading in the near future.  Thanks, Cori!

And take a look at the hidden picture math worksheets I've been working on:
